Newark Amateur Operatic Society – Production of CATS

Every now and again you may be fortunate as a photographer to be asked to capture something extraordinary, exceptional and truly inspiring. That was very much the case in March when we were asked to take the official dress rehearsal photos of the Newark Amateur Operatic Society’s production of CATS at the Newark Theatre.

To say we enjoyed it would be an understatement. The photography was technically fairly difficult to ensure we were able to capture key moments given the variety of lighting conditions as well as the movement of the amazing cast around the stage.

Our approach was to try and capture the show as it appeared to the audience in all its glory but also try and present and display them in a way that gave the feel of a large and professional production. Apart from some subtle editing and cropping the sizes of the wide angle photos to offer a feeling of scale the rest of our time was narrowing our selections to our favourite 400 or so photos.

As you may deduce we thoroughly enjoyed our time with the production and would be very happy to be involved in other productions in the future. We hope we have done the show justice and am sure that some of the photos will be great keepsakes and memories for many of the cast and their families for years to come.
